| Gonzo's is panting in exhaustion today after a whirlwind of activity.
On Wednesday, June 30, we played at the Sallie Mae corporate headquarters for a huge product launch party.
The next day saw us at Clarendon Grill for the first time in two months, and the line was down the block, around the corner, and down the next block for most of the night! Many thanks to the unbelievable crowd (as always) at Clarendon, and our apologies for everyone who never got in.
Then it was off to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to see our good friend Alex Nguyen (once upon a time a drummer for Gonzo) and Mimi Fajardo get married (and my oh my didn't Shack look good in a tuxedo!). Keep an eye out for pictures of the event to show up on the web page.
Then we all had to scurry back to DC for the Fourth of July to play at the Shack Events / HFS Freedom Fest by the MCI Center, along with (among others) the Violent Femmes, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Sev, and Fighting Gravity. There was no one by our stage just before we started, but by the time our first song was done, over 500 people had migrated over and were dancing, despite temperatures pushing 100 degrees!
Then, on Monday, we drove down to Jamaica Joe's, a waterfront bar built out over the Potomac, where we sweated and played and sweated some more on an even hotter day. Many thanks to Jamaica Joe's for their friendly welcome, and to everyone who danced on the blisteringly-hot deck. Special thanks to the crew of the Rainmaker, one of several dozen of the boats parked outside, who shared their company and several beers while we cooled off in the river between sets! |
